Soldiers Grove Library News

Hello Friends,

It’s March! The days are getting longer, and will officially spring ahead next Sunday when we get that extra hour at last. So while waiting for the snow to disappear, here are some events coming up at your Library.

Eight voices are needed for this dramatic reading being developed from local interviews conducted for the Back-To-The-Land Project. If you would like to participate, or have questions, please contact K O’Brien at kob.book@yahoo.com or call the library, 608-624-5815

Tuesday, March 24, 7-9pm “The Enigma of Cuba”

Ron & Phant Byers will be giving a talk with a slide show & music.

“There were 11 of us as delegates on the eight-day trip to Cuba at the end of November 2014. We were part of a Witness for Peace delegation to study the impact of the embargo, meet people face to face, and learn about Cuban culture. The trip was allowed through a U.S. policy that permitted authorized groups registered as educational organizations to visit Cuba through a “People to People” initiative. We met with people in many different contexts: university, arts, music, schools, micro-enterprise, and neighborhood community program initiatives. We will be giving a talk with a slide show & music of our experiences on this trip.”

Saturday, April 11, 10:30-12noon
Watercolor Painting with Anne Tedeschi

Everyone welcome to watch, listen and/or paint! Adults and children ages 5 and up can participate. Supplies will be provided.

Please remember our Patio Paver Program! It’s your opportunity to help the library maintain the high quality of service our community has come to rely on.
Place your order now for an engraved brick to be installed this coming spring! The order form can be found on the library’s website, www.soldiersgrovelibrary.com or you can stop by the library to order a brick or two. The patio pavers can be seen in the bookdrop area near the front entrance and can be reserved for $100 per brick. Inscriptions can be made for a special person, place or thing, but how about a favorite book, or an inspirational or funny quote? Imagination rules!
