What's Happening at the Library

Soldiers Grove Library October News

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” ―F. Scott Fitzgerald, *The Great Gatsby*
Below are some events that will be happening in October at the Soldiers Grove Library.
*Upper Gardens at the Library:* Support the library with a small donation and take home a plant for your garden! Come join us Friday and Saturday, October 2nd & 3rd between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m in front of the library’s upper gardens. The village buildings will be going through a landscaping transformation in the Spring. Please bring a container along with your donation, and select a plant from the area surrounding the entryway pavers. *The trees must stay, but everything else must go*! Supporters may also gather seed heads from the lower pollinator garden, but not the plants themselves. The library will have shovels on hand. Please remember social distancing and face coverings if others are present. Thank you to all those community members who have helped beautify and enliven this special garden in years past.
*Virtual Book Club**:* There are still a few copies available of *The Library Book* by Susan Orlean. We will discuss the book via Google meet on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Sarah by phone (608) 624-5815 or email (sdipadova@swls.org) to pick up your copy.
*Family/Children’s Programming:*
*Guest Readers in the Courtyard in October:* Beginning October 13 at 10:00 a.m., come listen to a story in the Courtyard with a special guest reader; the first will be Ms. Cele Wolf! Please bring your family down to the library and enjoy the falling leaves while you listen to a tale by a fantastical storyteller (weather permitting).
*Take & Make Crafts: *Come to the library to get a take-home project to do with your family. Pick up a canvas to paint a fall landscape that we can display at the library! More craft projects will be available throughout the month.
*In the Community*
*Myrtle Lake Fall Fundraiser: *Come see us October 10th from 11:00 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m. The Library will be showing support for the Myrtle Lake Restoration project at Old Town Park in Soldiers Grove. We will have books and plants for sale!
*Discussions about Dementia: *Sponsored by the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), join communities around Wisconsin in a virtual book club which will launch in November 2020! We will “reimagine” how we live and care for people with dementia by building a life of joy and dignity and give hope throughout the lifespan. Open to all; caregivers, professionals, anyone wanting to learn and discuss dementia in a new light for the purpose of building dementia friendly communities. Discussion groups will be led by Dementia Care Specialists. To register sign up here: www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4EA9AF23A4F4C70-dementia
Enjoy the cooling elements of the season and pick up a good book to warm your soul!
Cheers, Sarah
